BRAND OVERVIEW

Bar 44 is located in the heart of downtown Houston. What sets it apart from other bars in the area is that it prides itself on being the 44th bar to be established in the vicinity. This fact inspires the food items and drinks that it serves, creating a unique and exciting experience for customers. Bar 44 offers a smaller version of Dave & Buster's with a focus on earning branded bottle caps for rewards. Customers can earn these bottle caps by playing games, buying specific food and drinks, or completing challenges. The establishment's famous sliders are a must-try, with unique flavor combinations and a build-your-own option available. Customers looking for a challenge can take on the 44-inch slider challenge, where finishing the towering burger within 44 minutes earns a shirt and four bottle tokens. For those who love a good competition, Bar 44 offers a 4x4 shot run challenge, where customers must complete four progressively harder shots and then play a round of the driving arcade game to get them for free. The bar also features a row of four driving arcade games, a small bowling alley, and darts, each with its own prizes and challenges to earn Bar 44 bottle caps. Bottle tokens can be redeemed for cash prizes or specific menu items, creating a unique way for Bar 44 to reward its loyal customers. The bar aims to create an unforgettable experience for all of its patrons, whether they are locals or tourists. With its unique sliders, exciting challenges, and memorable experiences, Bar 44 is a must-visit spot in downtown Houston.

THE SITUATION

The biggest challenge for this brand is creating a sense of fun without having a fully branded barcade to take pictures of so I had to build around that block by incorporating the "fun" aspect of Bar 44's concept into each branding material or social media post. The biggest challenge for this brand has been "how do I convince people this place is fun" without just out right saying it. Also there is already a very successful cesfull cidercade in Houston as well so I had to figure out a way to draw a portion of that crowd to bar 44 as well.

THE SOLUTION

Bar 44 aims to be a fun destination that attracts tourists through word of mouth. While the concept of the bar is still in development, I have explored various ideas that focus on creating a fun and engaging experience for patrons. One approach I took was to incorporate challenges throughout the different aspects of the bar, including the food, drinks, and games. I also took inspiration from the Cidercade, which, despite having 200+ games, can become repetitive after multiple visits. To address this, I propose using the same four classic bar games and including a bowling alley, but regularly updating the challenges associated with each game to keep things fresh and exciting for Bar 44's customers.

BRANDING

COLOR PALTTE

I wanted the color scheme to almost mimic a sport’s team colors without it being on the nose. The bar isn’t a sports bar but it’s a bar you can be competitive at. The name of the game is too earn as many bear caps as you can by the end of the night. Whether it's by playing the games, completing the challenges, or doing bar tricks to impress the staff. I needed a color scheme to match the energy.

FONT

When creating the brand identity for Bar 44, it was important to move away from the typical sports bar aesthetic and create a more unique and versatile visual identity. I wanted the feel but not the look. One approach to achieving this was by designing a custom typeface for the logo. Each letter and number in the name "Bar 44" was created using geometric shapes, giving the typeface a modern and sleek appearance.

PRINTED MOCKUPS

SOCIAL MEDIA

On Tiktok Bar 44 would focus mainly on motion graphics and promotion videos since that is what does the best on the platform. The videos would range from simple motion graphics like the first 3 presented. To better explain, the first screen I envisioned a group of friends clanging their glasses together. The second image would be a short graphic just illustrating the shots getting filled with a voice over explaining the challenge. On the third, it would be a perfectly looped graphic of sliders falling reminding people of Bar 44's Grand Opening promotion. On the last screen would like to continue the idea of having actual videos of people enjoying the bowling and bar games at bar 44.

Post on Instagram will be used as reminders or a place where customers can view more information about current events or challenges and new menu items.
