We provide everything you need for safe and stylish exploration, catering to both seasoned adventurers and beginners. Our product range includes camping gear, water rafting equipment, hiking essentials, and safety gear. With convenient physical stores in Houston, Dallas, New York, Portland, Denver, and Los Angeles, as well as an easy-to-use online platform, shopping with gorge is simple and easy. However, we are more than just a retailer. We foster a community through social media and events, where adventurers can share stories and experiences. As well as fostering a care for the planet while we travel it.

The Situation

We want to show that the Gorge brand is a fun retro feeling company that does more that just provide the basic needs for camping, hiking, water rafting, and mountain climbing. Gorge would like to showcase its new retro color palette, marketing and its push for environmental friendly bio degradable post cards, envelopes, and stickers. We want people to be proud to travel with the ease of knowing that earth is in good hands. We also need to make a connection to the audience by providing ways for customers to help spread awareness through their actions and social media posts.

The Solution  

Gorge aims to establish itself as a distinctive outdoor brand that offers more than just essential equipment for all means of exploration. Through its retro color palette, marketing efforts, and commitment to eco-friendly materials, the brand seeks to evoke nostalgia, foster pride in customers, and demonstrate a responsible approach to preserving the environment. By catering to adventure seekers who prioritize both fun and sustainability, Gorge aims to create a lasting impact in the outdoor industry and build a loyal customer base. As well as launching an interactive social media campaign.

Target Audience

Gorge's target market primarily includes outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy camping, hiking, water rafting, and mountain climbing. These customers are diverse in age and background, united by their love for nature and adventure. Additionally, the brand is looking to attract environmentally conscious individuals who prioritize sustainability and appreciate the effort to minimize environmental impact through the use of bio-degradable postcards, envelopes, and stickers on their travels. Gorge hopes to extend it's list of bio degradable products in the near future as well.

The Brand

Gorge seeks to be recognized as a unique and exciting outdoor brand that brings a nostalgic and playful element to the adventure market. By incorporating a retro color palette in its products and marketing, Gorge aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia while appealing to a diverse range of adventure seekers. The brand seeks to be perceived as more than just a provider of essential outdoor equipment; rather, it desires to offer an immersive experience that sparks joy and a feeling of connection with nature.

Printed Material

The Gorge's icon and wordmark can be prominently featured on a range of products that cater to outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers. These products could include hiking gear, water bottles, thermoses for hot soup, insulated jackets, and other outdoor essentials. The branding would not only make the products visually appealing but also create a sense of connection with the Gorge's identity.

The magazine ad idea involves a detailed image of a forest setting with a hiker's bag resting on a massive rock, presumably used as a common trail marker. The ad should evoke a sense of adventure, showcasing how the Gorge's products can complement and enhance outdoor experiences. The cream-colored palette contrasting against the saturated forest will create an eye-catching design. It's essential to make the ad look authentic and appealing to the target audience, thinking about what their next adventure should be.

The concept of a retro print ad is intriguing and offers a unique angle to showcase the Gorge's products. Using old camping gear like a canvas tent, bag, lantern, hatchet, and cast iron pan will add a nostalgic touch to the ad, appealing to seasoned campers as well as those interested in the vintage camping trend. The ad can present the idea of selling vintage camping gear and encourage customers to share their experiences using the old equipment. This initiative can create a sense of community among outdoor enthusiasts who appreciate both the charm of old camping gear and the modernity of the Gorge's products.

Lastly, to foster a sense of community and belonging, membership patches can be designed for customers to attach to their gear. The #stamptheearth campaign was created to boost sales and encourage community engagement on social media, while also promoting Gorge's commitment to eco-friendliness. Customers who purchase a $20 box kit will receive a Gorge-branded stamp and their choice of algae ink in green, orange, navy, or cream to represent the earth's different textures and colors. Additional ink bottles are available for $5 each.

To further inspire customers, the kit includes a package of biodegradable pens and a eco friendly bound journal for recording their adventures. Participants are encouraged to upload their best photos to social media using the hashtag #stamptheearth, and Gorge will select the most breathtaking shot for a grand prize. By participating in #stamptheearth, customers not only get a fun and interactive way to document their outdoor experiences, but they also contribute to the preservation of the planet through the use of eco-friendly materials while doing so.
